Ultimate Tigers VIP Safari

Exclusive access for the ultimate in tiger photography

Most people will never see a tiger in the wild. The word special is just not special enough to express the thrill of seeing a tiger up close and in its natural environment. They are the biggest big cats and there is no real way to describe the awe you feel when a Bengal tiger comes into focus in front of you, but it’s an experience we’re keen for you to share. Bandhavgarh National Park is an ideal destination for wildlife photographers. It is a great place to be one with nature, to just breathe jungle air and marvel at the sights and sounds. The Reserve is in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The fascinating deep valleys, narrow gorges, cascading waterfalls and rich vegetation of the Reserve represent nature at its very best and it is unsurprising that the park has one of the largest wildlife densities in India. India conjures feelings of mystery and excitement; tigers elicit a sense of magic and awe.

You will be met in Delhi airport upon your arrival. You’re tired, so we’ll whisk you to the airport hotel as soon as you’ve reclaimed your bags. We’ve left your first day free to relax or explore.

Next morning we’re up early. After breakfast, a short internal flight over the lush green patchwork landscape will take us into the heart of India. Upon arrival we’ll take you straight to your base camp for the next few days – King’s Lodge.

Once you’re at home, fed and watered you will be able to accustom to your new environment and get ready for the following days in the park. For the next six days, Bandhavgarh’s terrains will be home for our adventures. The variety of habitat makes it ideal for a range of wildlife. As well as tigers, the Reserve is home to leopard, sloth bear, Indian wolves, fox and civet. A good variety of bird life (over 250 species) can also be seen here, including crested serpent and credited hawk eagles, honey buzzard, hornbills and paradise flycatchers. We’re also likely to see chital, chausingha, chinkara and numerous species of primate, as well as reptiles and butterflies.

Jeep safaris are taken in open-sided jeeps. You’ll have excellent line-of-sight and each jeep will carry a maximum of two photographers, so you’ll have plenty of space for unrestricted photography. A nature guide accompanies you on each adventure into the jungle and your photo guide will alternate between jeeps. There are two safaris per day, in the morning and afternoon. There will also be a variety of photographic presentations and lectures given during the tour.

Throughout your stay, dinner in the excellent Lodge dining room will provide the perfect opportunity for mingling, swapping photos and stories or just enjoying a jungle sunset and a Bombay gin. On the final day, we’ll return to Jabalpur for our connecting flight to Delhi, where you’ll be ready to return home with a thousand pictures and many more memories.

Is this adventure for you?

This safari is perfect for anyone with an interest in observing and photographing wildlife. If you are not a photographer but enjoy being out in nature and don’t mind being patient with the photographers, then it will suit you too. We’ll be in a wilderness area, so you do need an adventurous spirit. The lodges are of a high standard and are not western style bricks and mortar boxes. Safari days entail early starts and late finishes with relaxation time in between. If all of that sounds good, then this adventure is for you.
